The process of creation :
The process of creation, in the artist, is permanent. But he must staying true to his artistic commitments.
What damages this creative process is an awareness that barriers are being put in front of him. Among other things, the fear that many of his creations will remain asleep in the backroom. Whereas the ultimate goal of creation is precisely the exposure to the public and especially its acquisition.
The work:
A work is born in the hands of the artist, but its future is elsewhere. His work consists in realizing a unique, original, durable work… He shapes it, sublimates it, makes it grow to take it towards its destiny. And its destiny is not to sleep in a storeroom, but to exist far away from him, in an elsewhere.
It will be sublimated in the eyes of its purchaser, but also in his environment. It is also in this elsewhere that its value will continue to increase.
Questioning:
In his life, the artist is never serene. He is certainly even less so in our time when the work of art becomes a product to be consumed.
As a creator, I wonder about what is expected of my work. How can I offer, to my public, paintings at low prices, while ensuring their originality, their authenticity?
If I make “consumable”, therefore a product – because at this stage there is no longer any question of talking about unique and original creation – it will no longer be possible to work on the unique, original and thoughtful work over the long term. Just as making digital copies of my paintings is absolutely not an option, as far as I am concerned. That would risk to make me lose my credibility even my quotation until my status of creative artist. But even more, I would lose my honor.
What is the solution?
Should I completely rethink my profession as a painter, or even give it up?
Should I abandon my creative ideal? What the original work represents to me? My values as a creator?
How to keep your ethics:
After several months of wandering and questioning, I remain convinced that an artist must remain faithful to his artistic commitments.
- To allow the acquisition, at moderate prices, of unique paintings, without having recourse to digital reproduction, I created “The workshop background” with sketches, previous works and test canvases.
- In order to reassure the future buyer, I voluntarily gave access to the value to quotation. Thanks to the quotation, the customer has the official insurance of valuation of the work in case of: disaster, damage, theft for the insurances. The quotation allows to position and to know the place of the artist in the market of the Art, but it is above all a pledge of quality towards the buyer. The quotation value is not the selling price!
- By not fixing any selling price, I give you the possibility to make me a well-considered offer between your financial possibilities and your favorites. Do not hesitate to contact me either via my website or directly by phone at : +33 (0)6.86.00.58.73.
